Cositas: Little Thing
March 16 – May 25, 2013
Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday 1-4pm
Artist Monica Rodriguez creates the extraordinary out of the little things of everyday life in the form of colorful charmed sculptures and mosaic paintings from recycled paper. Her hand-made art plays on the Spanish word, cositas that refers to small objects that one can cradle in the palm of their hand.
One of a new generation of artists bringing a passion for recycling and the environment to their artistic practice, her work is exuberant and engaging.
On Cinco de Mayo, Sunday May 5th at 1:00pm, Monica Rodriquez will be offering a family-friendly tortilla-making and tasting workshop at the Voelker Orth . Admission to the workshop is $4 ($3 for members) and children 12 and under admitted free.
A selection of Monica Rodriguez' handmade wearable art and notecards are available for sale through May.
House tours are available on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays,
from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., except on noted holidays.
The museum will be closed on December 26 and January 2nd.
