Grant Wade Jonathan and the Tuscarora Raised Bead Art Tradition
June 7— August 30th
Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, 1-4pm

On view is work by and in the collection Grant Wade Jonathan, a raised beadwork artist who grew up on the Tuscarora Reservation near Niagara Falls.

He first learned beadwork as a teenager from his mother, who shared this family tradition. As an artist, he now creates masterful new interpretations of historical Tuscarora souvenir art that became popular with tourists in the Victorian period. These were small items and ornaments adopting traditional Native designs, produced for sale. The exhibition includes a selection of beaded objects collected by Grant Jonathan, historical materials and Mr. Jonathan’s own beadwork.

The ground floor of the house is physically accessible. Children must be accompanied by adults.
