Paper Aviary by Marna Chester

On view March 28th – July 12th
Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday 1 – 4pm (through May)
Starting June 2nd, hours move to Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday, 1-4pm

Artist's Reception (rescheduled): Sunday, June 7th, 2-4pm

Marna Chester says of Flight for Life, her newest work, "The idea is that each bird is quite unique in appearance and gesture, yet they are like a family-- feeding off the same core/nest. The birds are both in fight and flight mode, and also experiencing a range of feelings and objectives. Like people in real life."

Marna Chester is a multidisciplinary artist who shares our fascination with the beauty of birds. Working in paper, she has assembled her sculpted birds making for a veritable gallery aviary at the Museum. And, if one takes a moment to listen, it is even possible to hear the songs and clatter of the birds in the garden.

Meet the artist on Sunday June 7th at a reception from 2-4pm. Earlier that afternoon she will offer a hands-on workshop, Drawing with Scissors to introduce her working methods, utilizing a variety of cutting techniques.
House tours are available on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum is closed Easter Sunday, Mother's Day and the afternoon of May16th.

As the Museum is located in a 1890s house with a number of small rooms, we ask that groups interested in taking a tour contact us in advance to better accommodate all visitors. The standard house tour runs 20-30 minutes.

The ground floor of the house is physically accessible. Children must be accompanied by adults.

Suggested donation $2.
